Women Cell:

To enhance the self-esteem and self-confidence of women students, faculty and staff of the College, The Women Cell was inaugurated on 4TH February 2011 in the college. The cell aims at developing critical thinking ability of women students by keeping them informed in areas like education, employment and health especially reproductive health. The women cell also aims at promoting intellectual and cultural activities for overall personality development of student.

A guest lecture was arranged for discussing ‘cancer related issues’ in women, as a part of women cell activity to mark the occasion of ‘Cancer awareness Day’. The Lecture was given by an eminent person in the field of Medical Hematology and Oncology Dr. Srinivas Chakravarthy Gummaraju, Apollo Hospitals. Dr. Chakravarthy is honoured with many degrees to his credit. MD Medicine (Residency, USA); DM Hematology (Fellowship, USA); DM Oncology (Fellowship, USA) American Board Certified in Medicine, Hematology, Medical Oncology. He is voted among the best 1% of physicians in the USA in an independent nationwide survey conducted by the famous Press-Ganey Group. He is also a Member, National Physicians’ Advisory Board to the President of the USA. He has several publications and academic awards to his credit which includes Bio-graphical note published in several international reference books including the ‘Marquis Who’s Who in America’ (USA) and ‘Dictionary of International Biography’ (UK). Dr. Chakravarthy  gave a presentation on the symptoms and precautions to be taken on cervical, breast and other cancer related problems of women . He also interacted with the students and the faculty of the college and enlightened them with various facts and misconceptions.

Artificial Flower Making & Mehendi

           As a part of Women’s Cell activities the college organized short term training in Mehendi and Artificial Flower Making. The course was organized for 4 days from 4th to 8th February. There was active participation from both students and staff. The artificial flower making course was coordinated by Dr.P.Naga Padma of Microbiology department. There were 13 participants in this course, which included school and college students and also college office staff. Mehendi course was coordinated by M.Sc microbiology final year student Masooma Begum and 10 students both from school and college enrolled for this.
