Activities 2017-18:

National Seminar "Vartamankaale Samskruta Sahitasya Aavashyaktaa Tasya Aacharaneeyataa"

The Department of Languages organized atwo-day national seminar in Sanskrit with the theme “Vartamankaale Samskruta Sahitasya Aavashyaktaa Tasya Aacharaneeyataa” on 24th and 25th, January, 2018.


Workshop on Unicode

The Department of Languages of Bhavan’sVivekanandaCollege,Sainikpuri ,Secunderabad , had organised a workshop on UNICODE on Dec 20,2017. Prof Shubhada Vanjape, Head Dept of Hindi, Osmania University, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Dr B, Balaji,  Assistant Manager, Midhani, Ministry of Defence,Govt. of India, Kanchan Bagh, Hyderabad was invited as the resource person for the one day workshop. He  gave insight into the utility and working of Unicode, a modern computer coding system which enables people to use computer system in various scripts and languages.This workshop was designed mainly for the faculty and students to familiarise with Unicode that will enable them to work with all the features like MS-Word in  the  various Indian languages and scripts. The program started with the Inaugural session. Dr C. Kameswari, Head , Dept of languages gave the welcome address. Many college teachers , writers and professionals associated with publication attended the workshop.There was an overwhelming response from students also  at the workshop. Dr B,Balaji addressed a lecture session on Unicode followed by a Technical session.  Mrs B Niraimathi Vice Principal, Bhavan’sVivekananda College  also graced the dias and spoke on the occasion. The program concluded with the Valedictory function where participants were given certificates . The workshop was a good learning experience for all.


Activities in 2016-17:

French Language competitions

The competitions in French were held on 29th of July 2016 in the college. The program had Master Chef Competition in French (Cordon Bleu) where the participants had to present and explain the recipes in French. There was a competition on solving crossword in French (mots croisés) and also a Just A Minute (JAM) Competition in English on France. There were songs in French presented by students which enhanced the French ambience. The judges were from the alumni of the college who have pursued and/ or are pursuing their career in French. The revered presence of our Honorary Director Col. M. Vijay Rao and our Principal Prof. Y. Ashok steered the program to its success. The Winners will be felicitated on the Languages Day.




Guest Lecture

Prof. Dr. Lakshmi Bharati has given a Guest Lecture on "History of Hindi Litereture on 28 July 2016.
