Bhavan’s Vivekananda College, Sainikpuri ,Secunderabad organized an International Conference on Paradigm Shift in Taxation, Accounting, Finance and Insurance. The conference is a part of silver jubilee celebrations of the college The main dignitaries who attended the inaugural function were Shri IYR Krishna Rao, IAS(Retd.)Chairman, BhartiyaVidyaBhavan, Sainikpuri, Hyderabad Air Cmde. (Retd.) JLN Sastry, VSM Vice Chairman, Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan, Sainikpuri, Hyderabad. Chief Guest K.B. Vijay Srinivas ,General Manager, National Insurance Co Ltd., Key Note Speaker Prof. K. Eresi, Bengaluru University, Bengaluru. Guests of Honour Prof. H. Venkateshwarlu, Special Officer, OU. Centenary Celebrations Prof. S.V. Satyanarayana, Chairman, BOS, Dept. Of Commerce, O.U., The welcome address was given by Prof. Y Ashok, Principal, Bhavan’s Vivekananda College The Key Note speaker Prof. K. Eresi stressed on the need to convert the present day youth into human capital. He stated that manufacturing and export led growth will create more employment and enable India to scale greater heights. Prof. H. Venkateshwarlu emphasized that education should uphold cultural values and teach students to be rooted to one’s own culture. The Chief Guest ,K.B. Vijay Srinivas ,General Manager, National Insurance co Ltd. spoke about summer internships started by National Insurance co Ltd. with the intention that students can earn while they learn.He also stressed the need for an increase in the need for corporate transparency throughout business platforms. Analytic is the need of the hour as India heads towards an integrated economy . Prof. S.V. Satyanarayana, Chairman, BOS, Dept. Of Commerce, O.U. spoke about Cloud Accounting” and Integration of technology with educational institutions. Dr. K. Sreelatha Reddy ,Convener of the International Conference ,explained the theme of this conference She said there were 7 technical session forums, 227 tracks and international delegates from UK and Norway who had graced the conference. After the Inaugural session there were two Technical sessions before lunch break and two technical sessions post lunch TECHNICAL TRACK I – TAXATION This track was chaired by Prof. M. Usha, (Retd) Department of Commerce, O.U and C.A. Ganesh Balakrishnan - Partner, Deloitte Haskins & Sells. There were 13 papers in this track and the papers mainly focused on topics such as “GST and Its Implications on Indian Economy”, “International Tax Disputes-A Study of factors responsible and remedies”, “Impact of Direct Taxes on GDP”, “A Study, GST: Boom or Bane”, “A Study on Select Segment Sectors in the Indian Economy”, “Impact of GST on Tourism and Hospitality Sector”. TECHNICAL TRACK II– BANKING This track was chaired byProf. M. Sulochana (Retd), Former Dean, head and chairman B.O.S, Department of Commerce, O.U and Dr. S.R. Subba Rao, Economist and business analyst. There were 22 papers in this track and the papers mainly focused on topics such as "A study of the impacts of banking sector reforms in the United Kingdom since the liquidity crunch of 2007-08", “Customer Perception Towards E-Banking Services-Post Demonetization”, “Impact of Plastic Money on Banking Trends in India”, “Pioneer in Digital Currency-Bitcoin”, “Digital Payments: Challenges and Solutions”. TECHNICAL TRACK III – INSURANCE This track was chaired byProf. Usha Kiran, Department of Commerce, (OU) and Dr. Bhakti R. Pawar, assistant professor, Kasturba Gandhi P.G. College. There were 16 papers in this track and the papers mainly focused on topics such as “A Study on Attitude of it Employee towards Wellness Insurance Plans in India”, “Impact of Priority Sector Lending on Indian Economy”, “Changing Scenario of Indian Insurance Sector”, “Growth of Insurance in Rural Areas”, “Health Insurance in India-An Overview”. TECHNICAL TRACK IV – BANKING & OTHERS This track was chaired by Dr. T. Krishna Kumar, Professor, Department of Commerce, (OU), Dr. S.R. Subba Rao, Economist and business analyst.. There were 28 papers in this track and the papers mainly focused on topics such as “Demonetization and its Positive and Negative Impacts on the Banking Sectors and Economy”, “Cryptography – Security in E-Banking”, “Analysis of Priority and Non-Priority Sector NPAs of Indian Public Sectors Banks”, “Payment Banks: An Innovative Initiative by RBI”, “Impact of Economic Reforms on Banking Sector Vis – Via - Liberalization”.
The second day of the two day International Conference on - PARADIGM SHIFT IN TAXATION, ACCOUNTING, FINANCE AND INSURANCE was organized at Bhavan's Vivekananda College, Sainikpuri on December 9th2017..
The morning session commenced with an interactive talk by Mr. BALWINDER SINGH, Department of Commerce,Guru Nanak Dev University ,Amritsar. He set the tone for the day’s deliberations. He gave insight into various aspects of Finance and Accounting.
Dr. S.R. Subba Rao, economist and business analyst was felicitated at the Inaugural session for his contribution for reviewing the volume of research papers that were presented at the conference.
The Accounting and Finance technical sessions that followed were attended by delegates who presented their research papers. Around twelve papers were shortlisted for the Best Paper Award.
The Valedictory Ceremony commenced from 4:00 pm in the evening. It was graced by , Air Cmde. (Retd.) JLN Sastry, VSM Vice Chairman, Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan, Sainikpuri. The chief guest for the program was Mrs. Vanita Datla, Vice Chairperson, ELICO Ltd. Chair women Southern Region, Indian Women Network (CII) . The Guests Of Honour were Prof. K. Shankaraiah, Dean, Faculty of Commerce, Osmania University. and Sri N.L. Venkat Rao, Chief Regional Manager. National Insurance Co. Ltd. Hyderabad Region.
The valedictory function concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by the convener of the seminar.
